I'm feeling nostalgic and sad at the news of Chris Cornell's death last night. While i wasn't a fan of his recent projects, i was a big Soundgarden fan "back in the day". Saw them live a couple of times as well.

Sounds like the Detroit PD is investigating his death as a suicide. Damn.

Mental illness is a hell of a thing. I hope his kids are ok.

I wouldn't rule out a David Carradine type of thing. They probably wouldn't publish that. They found him on the floor, not hanging.

I would rather it be that than suicide. I don't have much empathy for suicides.

Is that Today I Learned?

Let me elaborate...

Just have way too many personal experiences w/ suicide. Have buried a few friends because of this.

It's not that I don't have any empathy at all. It is mostly due to the fact that I find suicide as a selfish act. Woe unto me...etc. Never mind the people who care about you or children who depend on you.

It is also funny how we are able to call some things like suicide, a mental illness (which it probably is) and want to help in any way we can, but something else like child molesting (also likely a mental illness) we want to lock 'em up and throw away the key. It is like some forms are acceptable and others aren't. Not like there is any choice in the matter.

So it probably is just the way I view it as an unacceptable form of mental illness.

Note: No children were molested in this post. ;)

My bad.... Didn't know about David Carradine. Should have elaborated.

Starting to sound like it wasn't "the Carradine" after all.

Yeah, first reports always leave more Q's than answers.
