It was brought to my attention that, quote, "discord > teamspeak" - crazyjay

For fellow ludites and/or old people like me, Discord is a voice and text chat program that is very similar to teamspeak, but apparently better for reasons i don't yet understand. The one thing i do understand is that servers are free, so i'd be able to claw back the amount that i currently spend on the teamspeak server, which is always welcome.

I've created a server called 420th.org. Basic permissions are setup and there are a few channels but i really don't know what the hell is going on and i just tried to make it as familiar as possible. Apparently i can invite people to the server, but i'm not quite sure how to do that. It's also possible to create website "hooks" that, i believe, will send users directly to our discord server from a click on our website. Neat. A nice feature is that you can get Discord on your mobile phone, which will allow you to chat and/or text with other imbeciles, like you, on the server. This was a paid feature in teamspeak.

It also supports a widget that will allow users to see who... It will allow users to see WHO'S NOT on the server. Crazy, the widget "stuff" is:
Code:
<iframe src="https://discordapp.com/widget?id=310521598736072714&theme=dark" width="350" height="500" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0"></iframe>
Want to put it on the side bar? I poked around the admin settings a few nights ago but i don't think i can make changes like this.

Let's give it a shot. Download is here.

Happy to hear any suggestions or rants you may have. I won't terminate teamspeak just yet, but it does look like it's not long for this world.

Have at boys.

Nobody using TS anymore, so you're just pouring money down the drain. I'm fine with whatever you decide. Not playing much these days anyway, and only ever used TS for BMS and Arma and not doing anything with those lately.

I'll check this discord thing out when I get a chance.

well, wheres the discord invite?

nice thing about discord, is you can stay online all the time, and chat. then drop into a voice channel if you decide to do something together. you can also access in any web browser.

you guys should really join the fed discord too. you can be connected to multiple at once.

invite to hudson/winters discord: https://discord.gg/YDHTRUM
all you need is screenshots of being pledged to hudson.

then harley, you could get an idea of what all you can do on a server.

I saw the invite options, but i assumed i would need to know someone's discord name to invite them. I'll look into it tonight.

It works like the shout box. On rare occasion, it is even used for speech. :P
