so funny story time....im playing when the wife comes up and asks to "try it"....

so she puts on the headset, while standing behind the chair and starts looking around the ship. Shes standing, so it is as though she is standing behind the pilot chair.....then she leans around me and starts dying laughing as she is staring back at me....all she can manage to say is "you have no head" :D

elite really should put a head on their pilot model....

Well... i'm no longer considering an OR as it renders E:D literally unplayable.

oh right.

anyway. to be fair, when in the correct position, looks fantastic. if you are a midget. :D

docking, scooping stars, flying through the mailslot....all things that need to be relearned....landing the asp (which you can see through the lower windows) is incredible.

rammed my FDL into the mailslot more than once last night. its just so different.

combat is fantastic, though i keep popping up the target window, and forgetting it is up because its off screen. but actually looking back over your shoulder to find the bogey is immersive to say the least.

Man, i need to see this in action. I wonder how my system would respond... so don't want to get into any upgrades.

I ended up turning off all windows popping up when i look at them -- i like looking around. Use a dedicated button for each on the stick now and i'm much happier.

What are you using the target window for? Contacts or sub systems? I have a command that cycles through the sub-systems (frontwards and backwards through the list) that i use a ton. So easy. For contacts, spam my "next target" button.

You've got to try it in DCS also, Jay. It's so much more in a real life environment.

As for ED, I'm so fucking lost ... lost lost lost :D

My ingame name is Mud420th

i also turn off the popping up feature. but i click it for nav, or to see what dropped after i killed some fool, and then look forward. forgetting to turn it off. when on a normal screen, it force focuses on the screen, in VR it does not. so the screen is still open, and im clicking the trigger to kill the next bad guy. but nothing happens. lol

i also have subsystems mapped to a wheel on my throttle, so a quick spin gets me to the power plant.

i have next target, next enemy, and whatever is the most dangerous mapped, as well as what the fuck is in front of me.

Okay, this seriously blows, but i get it. I would consider going back to look-focus unfortunately.
