In case there's any whirleybird lovers here: very nice video. Makes me wanna buy the Gazelle.

Also makes me wanna ask if any of you ever plan to fly DCS besides BMS.

You can post DCS stuff here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=86&start=320

:P

Personally, i'm not interested in what DCS is offering. While it's pretty and all, i'm simply not interested in flying TE's or doing "air-quake". If it was possible to at least play through a campaign in MP... i'd be all over it.

I understand your point.

From my own perspective I'm mainly interested in the flying aspect or having the sensation that you are flying. The warfare part is only secondary to me. For instance yesterday I flew a Huey mission where I had to rescue two groups from a mountain top. No weapons involved whatsover, but very challenging because of low cloud cover in the valley and the extreme high altitude at which the groups were, giving the UH-1 almost no lift anymore once the group had boarded.

While I do love the dynamic campaign in BMS, I often end up getting into a very repetetive pattern there. Flying dozens of sorties around the same area, chewing down little bits of the enemy ground forces. The only truly challenging part of a campaign is mostly just the beginning. Unless you allow the enemy forces to thrive on purpose, which then again ruins realism for me.

Hence I linked the video of that guy. It's a pretty simple TE he set up, but creates a really cool scenario I think. Being able to direct artillery from a scout helo, or being directed by JTAC when in the A-10 adds a lot of immersion. But yes, someone has to make the missions, just like in Arma. I wish I was better at the scripting part of the mission editor ... and had more time. Maybe I need to do something to my right thumb :)

Anyway, whichever floats your boat ... keep'em flying!!!

sigh
not this again :D j/k

Well you know how I feel about DCS. So I won't go there on this post (I know the post wasn't for me)

What really should be killing your immersion is not ramp starting the jet everytime. You really can't expect the crew chief to do it for you. LOL

I hear what you're saying about things getting repetitive quite quickly after the first day. And you also mentioned the solution.
To really have the campaign play out dynamic, you need the red air to show up and challenge the airspace so it won't become a walk in the park for you.

In no way am I trying to tell you how you should enjoy the sim, but it seems that you're not (enjoying it to the fullest) I'm merely suggesting that you try and
challenge yourself to try a different approach. Or just use nukes after the first day :)

*pling
I'm still LMAO

Hey, I fly both and enjoy both a lot actually. I do like a change now and then though. Hence I also do more than just flight sims, even though they are by far my biggest passion.

Babs, if you read this, I meant after you and the kids of course.
