I've just installed the Viggen, took off from runway and flew 10 minutes. Then back to space.
What's happening to me???

According to Harley=====> LASERS!!!

P.S. I am having the same problem, Kris. We should start a support group.

"Hi, I'm Jason, and I'm an ED-aholic. I used to fly my F-16 all the time, but....SMH.

well after 5 or so days of having the rift, figured it give my impressions in case anyone else was considering it....

immersion is great. getting in your cockpit for the first time, and looking around the ship. found myself looking behind me, just to see what is back there. lol 1:1 ratio in combat, looking over your shoulder to find the bogey, ect is fantastic. the tracking worked perfectly for me.

but for me, there are some major cons.

#1 i cant seem to find a comfortable adjustment. after an hour or two, i start fidgeting with it, and just making it worse. it also gets pretty warm. not a big deal now, but what about summer?

#2 the screendoor effect is real. elite is a beautiful game. but everything is dulled down and pixelated in the rift. stations are pixelated and jaggy. stations definitely take the worst of this.

#3 i cant do anything else. cant lookup stations on my second monitor, cant check 420th.org while on that long supercruise.

this is all just personal opinions though. i'm considering if a nice big curved monitor is more suited for me.

Agreed that for ED the rift isn't great.

Works way better for DCS

Small update:

Since the Viggen is only available in DCS 1.5.6 Open Beta, I had to install it and it doesn't do much good on framerates at my current settings. So I opted to go through the training missions without the Rift, and with TrackIR.

Well, there's really no going back. Once you've done DCS with the Rift, it just sucks too much with TiR.

I haven't tried ED yet with my TiR, nor have I flow BMS in some time.

ED looks better on a monitor in my opinion. but not the immersion that you get with rift. Fighting in the rift was fantastic. but the stations, and looking at planets is better on screen.

ultimately i went back to monitor because it was uncomfortable. i tried a bunch of different online guides on how to set it up, and just no go. maybe i have an odd shaped head.

oh and the galaxy map, and interaction with stations in the rift could have been done better.
