The German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are renowned as a short-tempered lot.
They not only expect one to know one's gate parking location, but how to get there
without any assistance from
them. So it was with some amusement that we (a Pan Am 747) listened to the following
exchange between Frankfurt ground control and a British Airways 747,
call sign Speedbird 206.

Speedbird 206: " Frankfurt , Speedbird 206 clear of active runway."

Ground: "Speedbird 206. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven."

The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a stop.

Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?"

Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now."

Ground (with quite arrogant impatience):

"Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt before?"

Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944, but it was dark, -- and I didn't land."

Hahaha!!!

Sorry as my computer HD died the next morning after the event and I lost 200GB of data and 200GB of Fraps as well.

Bought an SSD and installing it this week. Can't wait!

Thanks to the 420th and everyone who attended. We had 24 pilots all up and the event lasted 4 hours. The Red Side won with direct hits on Suwon Airbase runways and ground troops.

I had 4 flights and they went like this:

1st. Flight took off, shot 3 aim120's, shot 2 shrikes... no A-A kills, 1 SA2 radar landed safely 300lbs. fuel
2nd. Flight took off, shot 4 aim120's, shot 2 shrikes... no A-A kills, 2 SA2 radar landed safely 1500lbs. fuel

3rd. Flight took off, shot 4 aim 120's, dumped ground stores! as there were bandits closer to my homeplate than I was and they were shooting at me! I had to make sure the two bandits were on the same side of my RWR to avoid being in a pincer. I went from 8500lbs of fuel to 1100lbs. in 2 minutes as I evaded 4 aim 120's and 2 9x's. I managed to get a kill on one of the F16's as he was closing in and then had a head on pass with UpstairsJ, both of our guns were firing. We passed the merge and I cranked right, passed again... this time about 40* offset, I opened up with a snapshot but no joy.
I looked down and I had 200lbs. of fuel... wings level at 6000ft. and dove to the 1000AGL. The HUD went out, the MFD's were off and that's when I decided to punch out. 1 A-A no opportunity to drop bombs Ejected

4th Fiight took off, now I'm really wary about taking Ground Munitions after the last flight. So I take 2 shrike and 4 long sticks and two wing bags. I climb out to Angels 25 and my head is on a swivel. Scanning out 80 miles I call Picture... 2 shiip bandits at my 3 o'clock 60 miles out angels 1. These guys are coming in for an SA10 run. I decide to keep pushing. I have my eyes on the SA2 at Camp Colbern and the SA15 battalion as a secondary. "Picture" - 3 Ship bearing 030 65 miles angels 1. Okay those guys are no threat.... yet. 25 Miles out, shrikes are warm, SA2 lights up... come on 22 miles... Shit! Popup SA2 mud spike left... SAM in the air! I see the contrail rising over my right wing. I bank hard right and dive. Blink the Jammer on - off - on off! okay, SAM threat off the RWR... shit another one right off my nose, I bank hard right and now facing back to homeplate I burn away. Okay, SAM threat gone. I climb out and turn back HOT. Acquire the SA2 to the left and fire a Bruiser on him. Lock up the primary SA2 target and fire again. Turn hard right and now I have 2 F16 bandits off my left wing angels 35 and angels 14. Angels 35 bandit takes a long shot at me and the "M" is flickering in my RWR. I turn and burn at angels 20 and race for home. You've got to be kidding! F16 bandit singleton between me and home. I now have 3 bandits on the RWR, I have 4 A-A and let two off the rail at the inconsiderate pilot who is in my way of getting home! he fires as well and I break left. I'm dragging out the missile but "A", I'm not heading for homeplate, "B" his missile is pushing me closer to the other two bandits and "C" I'm Joker Fuel. Now another "M" in the RWR from my 4 o'clock and I'm big trouble! I evade the first one but the second one finds it mark! BOOOM! I'm spinning at 360* every second and the ground is coming up fast! I eject at 150ft, 400kts and just as my chute opens up I hit the ground. I lay there with two broken legs but lucky I still have my handheld. " This is Coco do you copy? Come in SARS on freq. 131.9 do you copy, over? "
I roll over onto my back, reach into my side pocket and pull out a chocolate bar. As I look up at the blue sky I wonder what my family is doing right now.

You remember more than I do Coco (drunk off my ass!), but I remember the last mission. Got two bombs off on the long runway at the blue base before taking a slammer that was bearing down on me during my ingress. I punched out and landed on the taxiway at Suwon while watching Thumper make a clean pass on the short runway delivering all six of his bombs. Pretty sure I'm a POW now,,,Shad will probably be relentless with the waterboarding and backboob photos in an effort to obtain intel...
